Final Self-Assessment Worksheet

Final Self-Assessment Worksheet
Name: Mohamad Alsabahi
Course: ENGL 21002
Instructor: Prof B
Date: 5/17/2025

1. Which pieces did you include in your portfolio and why?

  • Self-Assessment Essay: I put this in because it explains how I’ve grown this semester as a writer and as a person.
  • Peer Cultural Op-Ed: I chose this because I learned how to write for an audience and share my opinion clearly.
  • Subculture Essay: I picked this one because it made me think deeper about people and groups, and I used sources better.
  • “Culture is Ordinary” Essay: I included this because I was able to connect class ideas to my own life.
  • Self-Assessment Worksheet: This is required and helps show my reflection in an organized way.

2. Which Course Learning Outcomes do you feel you’ve done best on? Why?

  • Reading, drafting, revising, and editing: I worked hard on my drafts and used feedback to make them better.
  • Understanding the audience and using the right voice: I learned how to change how I write depending on who I’m writing for.
  • Using sources right: I got better at using quotes and info to help my ideas, not just fill space.

3. Which Course Learning Outcomes were harder or still need work? Why?

  • Genre analysis and using visuals or media: I didn’t do much with pictures or design. I’d like to learn more about that.
  • Thinking about audience goals and expectations: Sometimes I still don’t know if my writing is clear for the reader, and I want to keep working on that.

4. How does your portfolio show how you’ve grown as a writer?

My portfolio shows that I’ve improved a lot. My first drafts were simple, but over time, my writing got more organized and had stronger points. I started using my own voice more and learned how to make better arguments. I also got better at revising and making my writing more clear.

5. How did feedback help your writing?

Feedback helped me see what I couldn’t on my own—like when something didn’t make sense or when I repeated things. It helped me fix my essays, make them smoother, and add better ideas. I think the comments from my professor and classmates really helped me grow.
